Shazad Latif SXSW Magpie interview video clips and a gif

So, I cut down the SXSW Magpie Premiere interview (see original below) into 2 short Shazad Latif focused bits. I also made a gif of him running his hand through his hair because, well, it was fun. Still waiting for AMC to announce when they are going to air Nautilus!!!

So I live nowhere near Austin, Texas so I have not yet seen Magpie, so I have no idea if I like it or not. Here are links to reviews from sources who have seen Magpie:

The Hollywood Reporter review is by far the most negative. The Collider, Variety and IndieWire reviews are more of a mixed bag, with the Collider review probably being the most positive.

Just added 3/13 - Screen Daily
The Screen Daily review has positive feedback specifically for Latif. :)

Started watching the first season of Departure

So on my quest to see as many films, TV shows etc on Shazad Latif's CV, I started watching Departure last night on Peacock. I have to say I didn't have a major fear of flying before, but now I suspect I may feel differently the next time I'm at an airport...Anyway, Shazad Latif plays "Ali Basra" the fiance of the lone survivor of Flight 716. Since Latif is only in the first six episodes, I haven't decided if I want to watch beyond the last episode of Season 1. My angry toddler is not happy with me right now, so I need to go...Before I do that though, if you're going to SXSW, Magpie starring Shazad Latif and Daisy Ridley will premiere on March 9th.

Slightly obsessed with Shazad Latif

Ever since we started watching Star Trek Discovery a few months ago, I've become slightly obsessed with Shazad Latif. In addition to his work as Ash Tyler in Star Trek Discovery Seasons 1 and 2, I have watched all of Toast of London (except for the pilot because it's not on Roku) and Toast of Tinseltown. I have started a page in this blog specifically for Clem Fandango outfits. I have also watched a few films he has starred in: What's Love Got to Do With It? (2022), Falling for Figaro (2020) and Profile (2018). He was also great as Alfred Wincham/Wyncham in the TV mini-series The Pursuit of Love (2021).

I'm definitely looking forward to watching Nautilus whenever AMC+ decides to air it. Also, this week Magpie (2024) debuts at SXSW. Despite the fact that Latif (Star Trek) co-stars in Magpie with Daisy Ridley (Star Wars), this film is a noir thriller, not a sci-fi movie :(
